Here are some snap shots of our resort on the Indian Ocean....but first, a look back at Seronera Airstrip in the Serengeti...our regional flight to Arusha where we caught our next flight to Zanzibar. In Arusha, we discovered just how important it is to have a paper copy of your flight confirmation--we didn't have it (the ONE piece of paper that was not in our portfolio that Den so diligently assembles before we travel!) Here in these parts (that sounds a little like I'm referring to some place in Texas, but I'm pretty sure you know what I mean!), there are no computerized check-in systems! At first we were told that because of the 'temperature', the plane could only take on 2 more passengers. (None of us were sure what that meant...) We did NOT want to split up so we defaulted to a later flight that we would have to catch in Kilimanjaro (an hour drive from Arusha). Just when the original flight was about to leave, people came running into the little departure gate and were speaking loudly and quickly in Swahili and starting to grab all of our luggage...which wasn't even tagged yet...apparently the flight COULD accommodate 6 more passengers and so Dennis paid cash for our 1 way flight, they wrote out a boarding pass for us and we were escorted out onto the tarmac and led into the back door of the plane!
Seronera Airport -- for real!
Kilimanjaro from the air.
Comin' in for a landing!!!!!
Waiting patiently to find out which flight we'd be on...
In between flights, we had lunch at the Coffee House in Arusha.
It's a resort as well and the staff preferred to carry the luggage on their heads instead of using the wheels!
When we arrived in Zanzibar, it was in the evening so we stayed overnight in the Jafferjee House in Stone Town. Wow. Rosemarie calls it a museum trying to be a hotel...

The room key system...dead bolts
