Tarangire continued...

Checked out of Tarangire Lodge around 10 am yesterday and Nixon took us for another short game drive around the park.  We saw a bunch of baboons, impalas, some water buck and more elephants...but this time they were right beside the vehicle!  (Just a side note, Rosemarie decides how long we are 'allowed' to stop to take pictures--certain animals just don't get 'old'--and we all agreed that at this point, impalas have dropped of the list of animals to be photographed because they really are a dime a dozen out here!  Water bucks are right behind them.

This guy was getting pretty edgy after a few minutes of us snapping pics...he was so close and the look on his face was, "oh ya, wanna go?" as he jerked his body forward and then back again a couple times and hit the ground as he lunged forward--it worked.  We left.

This next series of shots is of a bull and a cow.  They were just standing in an open field when we came upon them, so we waited to see what was happening.  At first we thought it was 2 bulls squaring off--but pretty soon it was evident that this was more of a mating ritual or something like it.
After this, they went off a ways to 'play' in the mud together...maybe part of the ritual?  lol
At that point, we got bored and weren't willing to wait around to see anything really exciting...in fact, we all decided that maybe NOT seeing anything too exciting here was a good thing!

So we drink bottled water, bottled water, bottled water...with the odd Diet Coke and Fanta (orange of course--there are no other flavours over here...just like Peru!)  Although...I noticed a can of Milo on the bar the last night at Tarangire and so in the morning, I asked for some and had it mixed with hot chocolate powder and steamed milk.  Yum.
