My blog is about making history. It is a living journal of the Heinzlmeir family. Each day and each life event is worth documenting and even if some of those events are hard...and not always happy...being able to look back and see how those times made us stronger or taught us a lesson to remember forever...it's life, and we embrace it.

Who knew life lessons could evoke traumatic side effects?
So maybe I over did it tonight...decided to pull out the iPad to show the little boys a few images...1-what children's teeth look like if they don't brush and floss them really well, at least 2 times daily; 2-what little fingers look like when they get infected from biting nails; 3-the germs that hands have on them if you don't wash with WARM, soapy water each time you use the bathroom; and 4-problems that come from sucking thumbs (Reggie can't shake the habit). Dane started breathing heavily, and whimpering while covering his eyes. Jimmy just said, "that's disgusting" and Reggie covered his eyes, had to lie down and then started crying in that oh-so-sad way while stating he felt sick. Then he got up, still crying and started to walk out of his room...I asked where he was going, he said "I have to go wash my hands." He had used the bathroom about 20 minutes prior and--you guessed it...skipped washing. Then I helped him blow his nose and wiped his tears and he said "Mom, go wash your hands before you touch anything else because you just wiped my nose...you'll get germs on EVERYTHING!" So I did (another good health practice I've tried to help them learn). I'm pretty sure I can say "mission accomplished"...but I didn't intend on making them nauseous and paranoid...oh well...better than rotten, bent-out-of-shape teeth, finger infections and toilet hands. My poor children.
