A wonderful life.

How blessed we are to be able to take breaks and just 'be'.
I will always encourage my children to take these kinds of breaks with their spouses to regroup and recoup.  We have some amazing friends that we love to travel with...and the Wenzels are included in that group.  We have known them for a long, long time...in fact, Alex and Dennis went to the U of C (Engineering) together way back in the early 80's.  Thanks Al and Deb for sharing Maui with us.

Monday morning swim with Mr. Turtle

This guy wanted a ride yesterday after our picnic at Kapalua

This hand carved giraffe was about 10 feet tall!

This is the one lane road that we drove on to get to the other side of Maui...it was so scary because there were 90 degree turns with 600 foot cliffs to one side, and a rock face on the other!
We stopped here and there along the way to take some great photos.  We also stopped at this little village called Old Kahakuloa where the best banana bread is made and sold hot.  That's the claim to fame anyway...I think my own tastes pretty darn good, but it was definitely a nice treat.

Alex did a great job maneuvering up, down and around and Deb and I did a great job of screaming and Dennis just laughed.

We sat on the beach on Saturday and then did some grocery shopping at Costco.  Sunday went to church and then had our picnic and took our drive around West Maui.  Today we sat on the beach, swam...took pics...enjoyed a Local Boys shave ice and just relaxed.
Tomorrow, repeat.
