Dane turns 5 and has grown into a caring, loving, sensitive little dude.

It's so hard to believe that the baby of the family is 5!  It's so amazing how time flies.  Because I was recovering from my surgeries, my side-kicks came to the rescue.  Jenna made his fabulous cake and planned the whole party with his friends.  Lew and Jen made Dane's birthday a perfect celebration for a perfect little dude.

Dane's primary teacher emailed me and said they would be having a lesson on Christ's birth and how loved he is and the reaction of his parents and the world.  She asked that I write a letter to Dane telling him of my reaction when I first met him when he came to this world!  I wrote the letter and gave it to the teacher before class.  She gave the kids their letters at the end of class to take home.  On the way home from church, Shannon asked Dane about the letter.  She asked him if he'd like her to read it to him...he said yes and she read it aloud to him.  While she read it, she looked over and he was gently wiping away tears and trying to make sure no one saw.  I was so touched by his reaction as a 5 year old.  It confirms that our children always need to hear how much they are loved because no matter how young, they can sense and feel our love in all we say and do.  This was a prime example and I'm so grateful for Dane's sensitive, loving side.
