Dennis and I are over yonder for a few days. We went to Toronto for a day after going to Austin's year end parade and put him on one plane home, while we caught another--on to St. John. Dennis has some business here and so on Sunday we drove 1.5 hours East to Moncton to see our friends the Legers!
We met up at church and then took a little picnic with us while Shawn drove us all around to see the sights. We saw the chocolate river...which is truly like a river of chocolate. It's a tidal river so it ebbs and flows according to the moon and when it's full, it looks like a river flowing with rich, milk chocolate. When it empties out, it is amazing how deep it is, and empty--with the sides looking glossy and smooth like chocolate ganache! It reminded us of those natural mud baths people flock to and slather themselves in mineral-rich mud to soothe and heal the body. We weren't tempted to jump in...but it was a sight to see!
The bridge to PEI is something we've wanted to see for a while and we can now 'tick' it off our list. We didn't have time to drive over...and the funny thing is, that you can drive over it for free, but it will cost you $45 bucks if you want to get back!
We went to Shawn's Mom's home for a BBQ and they were so friendly and hospitable! His sister and family were there as well and it was so nice to be welcomed by all. This town/city is very quaint and I LOVE it. Next time I go, I will be sampling the pastries and ice cream as that didn't fit into our Sunday schedule! The town is Cap-Pelé. It's right on the coast and where I took the pictures of the light house and beach.
Confederation Bridge - 13 km long from NB to PEI
Here is an arial view of the bridge (which I, of course, did not take--we didn't FLY over the bridge this trip ;o)
Towards the centre it rises quite high to make it possible for the larger vessels to get through.
Shawn, Mary, Joshua, Shiloh and Lucas.
We even went to see the World's Biggest Lobster!
Ahoy!
