Well, many of you know that in our church, those young men 19 years of age or older who are willing and able, serve a two year mission for our church. What that means is they teach those interested in learning more about the gospel; offer service of any kind where needed; volunteer for different organizations such as the Food Bank and Salvation Army. It is an exciting time as there is so much growth when these men are serving and giving of their time, talents and abilities.
Taylor made the decision to go and yesterday he received his 'call' in the mail and we had a big gathering to celebrate with him and witness him opening the letter with his assignment inside.
Here's the video of him opening it...
Canada, Montreal, Mandarin speaking! He will be leaving us on August 15th and attending the Missionary Training Centre (commonly known as the MTC) in Provo, Utah where he will be trained in all necessary things to be prepared to serve...including the Mandarin language. He'll be there for about 3 months and then head to Montreal. The Montreal Mission is very large and includes Nunavut even. So he could be all over that area at different times. He'll be using English from time to time, French (which he is already fluent in) and of course Mandarin.
