Summertime...and the livin' is easy...

Carl Meadows Cabin

We took a very scenic drive for 13 hours in total to a lake just east
of 100 Mile House in BC. It's called Canim Lake and it was quiet, the weather was hot, the water was inviting and the time together was priceless. We had no cell coverage...so every couple days some of us junkies had to drive to a little spot down the road a ways where we got some 'bars' and texted a bit and checked messages...Mac and Kaitlin had to work, so they stayed home...so we definitely missed them...and it just didn't seem the same without them! Oh well, that's life. Here are some shots of our adventure. The cabin was only 2 years old and beautiful...nicest one ever. The owners were so nice and called the next day to make sure we made it safe and sound...and we did, but had one minor glitch...we arrived in the dark, 10 at night and followed the directions as best we could, but Dennis ended up looking for the key to the cabin at the neighbours instead of the main cabin where it was located...and the neighbour heard him walking around and came out yelling all kinds of profanities and Den and Taylor just tried to apologize and explain...but he was just one of those guys...so they walked away, and I think we all had dreams that night that the crazy neighbour came and shot us all in our sleep!

Mimie was the only one awake during the drive as she was soooooo excited to explore Beautiful BC!

Our friendly neighbourhood moose that kept us company in the cabin...Reggie called him "n-noose".

Jen scoping out the dock and beach...

This one of Reg is awesome...he hates bugs and is always telling me "Mom! BUG!" and smack anything like the wall or table and holds his hand out to me with the imaginary bug...it's really cute...and in this shot, I managed to get him looking at the bee that decided to get in on the picture...he's not sure what he should do about this...you can see it down to the left by the plant...
When the coast was clear, he decided to strip down and throw rocks in the lake...I guess it's more fun if you do it naked...

All cozy in the evening...hanging out...
We always make food ahead of time and freeze it so we have home-cooked meals without all the work when we get there...we freeze it in foil pans and put it in the cooler and transfer from freezer to oven to table...my lasagna always tastes so good!

Jen's feet in the water...

Lew and Jen

Reggie was checking out the float planes going by.

Lew

Taylor

Brin, Tay and Jen

Dane had his bath in the kitchen sink!

Jen under water
Brin
Brianna was putting her face in the water to be brave, so she said...and then...
we found her bottoms on the beach...

...it was quite the hike up to the cabin and she couldn't hold it any longer!

Reg trying out the 'face in the water trick'...

Jen just chillin'

Lewis under the water...

Now, this is award-winning, if I do say so! Jen took this shot of Dane and it captured his character and beauty to a 't'!

Jim and mommy having a snuggle...Jimmy doesn't like the water so he was entertained by the rocks and driving his cars around...and just hanging out watching everyone else.

This shot of Jen searching under the water is really neat.

Like I said...all the shots of Jimmy are DRY! But cute!!!!

Brin on the boat!
Taylor and Jen doing stunts...
Reggie loves the boat...especially driving it...and he doesn't let Daddy keep his hands on the wheel with his...he has to do it all by himself...which can be dangerous...LOL
Jen

Brianna drying off...

We just enjoyed floating around on the lake...talking and talking...

Taylor took this shot and I LOVE it. I think I'll enlarge it and frame it for him...it's a keeper!

Reggie nakey again on the beach

Mimie and Brin just sittin' on the dock of the bay....

This is classic! He'll kill me when I use it at his wedding reception!

Brin went exploring on the beach...she too, like Jim, prefers land over sea!

A usual event around here (almost daily) is Brianna asking to do my makeup. So of course it continued at the lake so Jen and I being such good sports decided to let both girls do our makeup and really, it's not too bad. I figure by the time they are 16, they'll be pros!

Hammock time!

Is he jumping in or jumping up???? Very cool!

What can I say...it's Taylor the GREAT!

Another one Taylor took...

Okay, this was something that just happened...Taylor was lying on the floor with Jimmy and next thing you know...DOG PILE ON Taylor!!!!! That's Dad's butt in the khaki shorts...and Jen's green shirt in the back...it was just me and Dane who opted out...for good reason!

The sun has set on this summer get-away...so until next year...

On the way home, we decided to go down thru Salmon Arm instead of up thru Jasper again. I wanted fresh peaches to bottle and a change of scenery! We landed in Calgary on Saturday night and met Char and John at the new super-mall in Balzac...WOW...and then stayed the night at their place...limited space meant for a tenting adventure for Taylor, Jen and Lew...I woke them up with a FLASH in the morning to head home. We stopped in Airdrie to visit Uncle Martin first and the kids love to see him always! He sent us off with treats and hugs...

And I just had to throw in this one of Kate and Jared...it was good to be home and see them all again...

One last note...the night after we got home, supper was almost ready and we were about to sit at the table...all of a sudden we heard this big chain sound and a bang...we looked over and the kitchen light had come out of the ceiling (it was on a hook to centre over the table...but obviously not in a stud!). It swung right down where Taylor would have been sitting...shwooo! It was really scary...but we had to laugh and thank our lucky stars that none of us listened to Mimie when she told us to sit down for supper!!!!!

That was a great post filled with great pics! You must have a great camera...i know that you do. Also, love the nickname for Brittany! Brin. Cute as. The kids all look adorable and can i tell you? I reckoon Dane looks like Dennis! No joking there! And btw, I know EXACTLY where canim lake is...I've been there as I used to live about 30min from 100 Mile House. Did you know that's where Blze was born? haha...thanks for the memories. That is a beautiful beautiful area of BC for sure.
