Mothers Day, Football, hospitals and days of dirty feet!

Where do I begin...well maybe with Lewis...our football star. This is his 3rd year on the Fort McMurray Firefighters and he plays running back. Last Saturday his team won and he ran 3 of the 5 touchdowns! One of them was 60 yards! He bobs and weaves and pings and pongs off of those big linebackers and sometimes gets hit pretty hard...but it is so fun to watch him and his enthusiasm is great!
Mac took this shot of an early morning spring sky...and the other day there were about 5 deer poking around the back yard and the kids were looking out the patio doors in wonder and awe!

Mother's Day was awesome. I was pampered and spoilled rotten! I had pressies, flowers, dinner, special drinks and relaxation. The kids actually entered me into a contest for the best mom in town...and I won...but Kaitlin didn't check her email in time for me to get my prize...so someone else got it! I wasn't disappointed because the fact that they THINK I'm the best mom and wrote a letter to the radio station telling them...made my heart happy!

Hospitals...is for Mac...who, over the past month has had stroke-like symptoms and many visits to the ER and an MRI finally...which, fortunately showed nothing (of course, he's a teenager, they have nothing in their heads, right?)...but still would have bouts of numbness on one side of his body, aphasia (inability to speak, or speak with mixed up words or made up words) and then intense pain on one side of his head and nausea etc. After a stay in the hospital, and consults with a psychiatrist, general medicine doc, internal medicine doc...they all concurred that it's Hemiplegic Migraines. These are the worst strain and could cause a stroke. So he is on Atenolol indefinitely...at least until we see the neurologist in Edmonton...and we go from there. It's been a stressful month of wondering and waiting...and hoping...and things are looking up finally.

So we are very busy with the yard...after 3 1/2 years of cutting down trees, pulling out stumps etc...we are ready to sod the back yard. Den rented a bob cat this past weekend and "played" back there and ALL the boys were very excited...even Reggie and Jimmy. We built garden boxes and started the play centre. Next weekend the tramp goes up and before we know it, we'll have more space that's fun and a beautiful area to play on! With this brings...

DIRTY FEET! Tis the season...the boys first experience touching the grass under their feet...it's always so fun to watch the expressions and apprehension.
